Niobium
is a relatively good thermal conductor in comparison
to conventional leadframe, seal ring, or pin materials
such as Kovar or FeNi alloys. (Figure 1)

A
relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)
makes niobium compatible with insulating materials like
ceramics or glasses, especially GaAs semi-conductor
